Personal Flavor - Easy Barbeque Sauce Recipes

Although one can choose from the wide array of barbeque sauces available in the supermarket, there is nothing like preparing one's own homemade barbeque sauce firsthand. In fact, one does not have to be a master chef or a barbequing whiz to formulate a great tasting BBQ sauce. It's actually quite easy; perhaps even ridiculously so.

The ingredients for the basic homemade barbeque sauce are as follows: 1 cup of ketchup, 1 tablespoon of mustard, 3 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, 2 tablespoons of vinegar, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 3 tablespoons of brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon of black pepper. The preparation is so incredibly simple that it can literally be summed up in one sentence: Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl and it's done.

The sauce is ready to serve as soon as it is done, but it is recommended to let it sit in the refrigerator overnight before serving. Although the sauce is already delicious on its own, one may still improve it further by putting in additional ingredients into the mix, using the basic barbeque sauce recipe as a base for developing new and unique BBQ sauce varieties.

An example of one of the many kinds of barbeque sauce that anyone can make at home is this recipe for smoky-flavored barbeque sauce. The ingredients are: a 12 ounce bottle of chili sauce, 1/4 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of mustard, 3 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, 3 tablespoons of vinegar, and 2 tablespoons of liquid smoke.

Additional spices may be included if one wishes, and one may also opt to use either cider vinegar or soy sauce in lieu of the Worcestershire sauce. The first thing to do is to rinse out all of the chili sauce from the bottle using the water. The rest of the process is pretty much the same as before: mix everything into the bowl. Again, this sauce is best refrigerated overnight before use.

Flavor is in the tongue of the taster. While manufacturers of ready-made sauces can only speculate on their customers' personal tastes, knowing how to make barbeque sauce at home makes it possible for anyone to concoct a sauce that is appropriate to one's own palate. Even if one only knows the basic BBQ sauce recipe, there is plenty of room for experimentation and one may yet create a completely new recipe on their own.
