"Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef" Yoni's photos around Cairns, Australia

Preview of Yoni's blog at TravelPod. Read the full blog here: www.travelpod.com This blog preview was made by TravelPod using the TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow creator. Entry from: Cairns, Australia Entry Title: "Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef" Entry: "Jan. 4, 2007 Early in the morning we check into the Koala Beach Resort in Cairns city center. Not an arbitrary choice but the third place we tried to get find a vacancy, each time going up the price scale. Still not a bad place, but cost $70/nite Australian, and has a nice pool in the court yard. [GPS 16 55.197S 145 46.439E from the street in front] There is no beach near here though. We cleared out the van and take it to the Wicked depot to turn in and got our deposit back with no problem. We have driven 3346 kilometers or about 2091 miles of Australia, from Sydney to Cairns including side trips. We couldn't have seen as much of Australia as we did without the van, but it will be nice having someone else do the driving from here on. As soon as we could, we got on the train up into the mountains to Kuranda, which is something Irina has been talking about for 13 years, when she had visited Cairns. Arvid wants to see what she's been talking about. It's a steep and picturesque railroad trip winding up through rainforests and numerous tunnels to Kuranda on the Atherton Tablelands. We spent a couple hours walking about this cute little tourist town and then took the Skyrail back down to Cairns. The Skyrail was not here 13 ...

"It Bloody Stinks" Hudsondino's photos around Rotorua, New Zealand

Preview of Hudsondino's blog at TravelPod. Read the full blog here: www.travelpod.com This blog preview was made by TravelPod using the TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow creator. Entry from: Rotorua, New Zealand Entry Title: "It Bloody Stinks" Entry: "They love to have a joke about Australians. It mostly boils down to Rugby and Cricket, unlike jokes in European countries where jokes are often derived from some sort of cultural and historical difference. However such one joke I found amusing told to me by a guide around Hells Gate, was: - A Maori guy just arrives in Australia and walks up to customs at Sydney airport. Customs Official - Have you got a criminal record? Maori - I didn't realise you still had to have one. Made me laugh, I dare anyone to fill in their visa when they arrive in Australia and put that. After finding a campsite pretty late, we decided to get very drunk. We had a great game of **** Head (great card game) and ended up pretty ****. We over indulged on foam bananas and doritos and mixed with the volumes of Bourbon and Coke made for a very uncomfortable sleep. This place stinks. It is basically a town built on a volcano and in just about every garden you can see steam coming from the ground filling the air with a sulfuric stink much like rotten eggs. We sat on the lake-side for a while and had one of those travel moments where you have to reflect on how random the whole situation you are in, is. Even more random was the fact that Andrews dad had just ...

Atkins Diet Recipes: Best Low Carb BBQ Sauce

***Join the Atkins Diet Video Facebook fan page -bit.ly & My Low Carb Blog - www.atkinsdietgeek.com *** In partnership with FaveDiets ( http ) recipe site, I have been mourning the loss of all good low carb BBQ sauces, and the remainder commercial ones haven't met any of my expectations for a rich, thick sauce. I went allrecipes.com and tried a few of them there -- converting them to low carb. I came up with one that met all my requirements, and it worked great for my New Year's Eve appetizer and slow cooked BBQ ribs. Low Carb BBQ Sauce (derived from Big Al's KC Bar-BQ Sauce Recipe - Allrecipes.com) Ingredients * 1 cup Low Carb Ketchup (either Heinz or Linda's "Better Than Heinz" Recipe - www.genaw.com * 1 cup tomato sauce * 1/2 cup Splenda or liquid equivalent (preferred) * 1/2 cup vinegar * 1/4 cup unsulfured molasses * 2 teaspoons liquid smoke * 1 tablespoons butter * 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder * 1/4 teaspoon onion powder * 1/2 teaspoon paprika * Dash of chili powder * Dash ground cinnamon * 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper * 1/2 teaspoon salt * 1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper Makes ~3 Cups of BBQ (approximately 48 1TBS Servings at 2g net carbs per Tablespoons) Directions 1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, mix together the ketchup, tomato sauce, sucralose, white vinegar, molasses, liquid smoke and butter. Maple Barbecued Chicken

This one was found on the about.com website. Ingredients: 3 to 4 tablespoons melted butter 8 chicken drumsticks (or about 1 1/2 lbs of chicken pieces like leg quarters) salt and pepper 1/2 cup maple syrup 2 tablespoons chili sauce 2 tablespoons ketchup 2 to 3 tablespoons lemon juice 2 tablespoons grated onion 1 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard 1/4 teaspoon black pepper dash Tabasco Preparation: Heat oven to 375°. Coat chicken drumsticks with butter; sprinkle all over with salt and pepper. Place in a lightly greased baking pan. Bake for 35 minutes. Meanwhile, combine remaining ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring. Lower heat to medium-low; simmer for 10 minutes. Brush drumsticks with the mixture and bake for about 10 minutes longer, until chicken is done. Serves 4. What I did differently for this one is that I poured off the fat before putting the bbq sauce on and I brushed the pieces on both sides with the sauce and then poured the rest of the sauce over top.
